remains several miles out over the moors.
His descriptions suggested hut circles of interesting
character so as it was only 2'. o'clock I bade
him lead on! Over broken moorland we
jumped and stumbled for a
mile and a half to the NW. [North West] of Mealbuidhe
till near the side of a burn we found the
ruins of sheiling bothies on the top of round
green hillocks. The largest of these hillocks
measuring some 50' x 62' in diameter lying
with its longest axis E. and W. [East and West] appears
to have been the site of some earlier con:
:struction. It has an elevation of some 5'.
All over the surface protrude large stones
many of them set up on end. The remains
are quite indefinite but resemble the
ruins covering the hillock in the Moss
of Whilk. A short distance to the E. [East]
is an area measuring about 140' x 100' sur:
:rounded by a single line of large blocks
of stone not forming a wall nor in their
present positions acting as a fence to keep
any animal outside or inside the enclosure.
Further N. [North] some ? 2 1/2 m. [miles] NNW. [North North West] of Meal
Buidhe at the S. [South] end of Loch a' Cheracher
Flow and to the E. [East] of the source of the
