greatest breadth and 1' in thickness. The
pointed ends of these slabs rest on upright
pointed stones sunk deep in the ground
but now at most only some 18" above it.
The distance between the pointed ends of the stones
which face each other is about 3', which
has now the appearance of a passage.
Laid across the space between two of these
slabs on the N. [North] side of the gallery at its SE [South East]
end is another large slab some 5' square
and the features of the ruins suggest that
the rest of the gallery was similarly roofed.
At the SE [South East] end four of the large pointed
slabs remain in position, in two pairs
opposite to each other, and to the NW. [North West]
although the slabs have fallen the
upright pillars for the most part re:
:main in situ. They are not placed at
regular distances from each other along each side of the created passage, but
vary from 4'.6" to 7'. apart. Some 12'
beyond the end of the gallery towards the
NW. [North West] this peculiar structure ends and
there appear to be the foundations of
one or two small rectangular chambers
against the outer wall. A similar
gallery appears to have been carried
round the SE & S. [South East & South] sides as is evidenced
