and there have been two apartments. These are,
I believe, the ruins of Sheilings.

Roster Broch (--)
Rising from among the cultivated crofts at
Roster about 1/2 m. [mile] E. [East] of the Camster Road
is a green mound covering the ruins of a
broch. The outer wall of the tower is in
places exposed showing a diameter over
all of some 64'. The elevation of the mound
is about 8'. From the base of the broch the
slope of the hillock towards the W. [West] seems
to indicate on its surface the existence of
outbuildings.

15th July 1910.
Bicycled to Rangag. Having heard that the
font from the site of the chapel at Ballachly
lay at the croft of Rhianacoil I made my
way thither. Mrs. Sutherland, the crofters wife,
a dark eyed, sad looking woman with flattish
features & black hair, asked me into her house
& gave me a tumbler of milk. The house
had originally had a hearth in the centre
of the floor but that had been removed
some years ago and now the fire burned
on an open fireplace beneath a chimney.
Like many of the crofters houses the roof
timbers & thatch were exposed there being
no ceiling. Three quaint old crofters
