About 100 yds [yards] SSE. [South South East] of the galleried house
in the line of an ancient stone wall built
with very large stones is a small
circular enclosure open towards SE. [South East]
with an interior diameter of 10'. The
wall is connected with it at either side
To the S & SE [South & South East] of the galleried house are
several mounds & constructions noted
on the O.S. [Ordnance Survey] map. Such as were ex:
:amined did not appear to be of any
importance but the fog coming down
densely my inspection of them was
not as satisfactory as I should have
liked. I must try to return (See Vol.iii. p107) [Volume 3, page 107]

Forse Castle. (6)
Forse Castle stands on a high promontory
rock approached along a narrow ridge.
traversed by a trench some 15' in width
at the base of the castle. The keep
resembles that of Old Wick. It has been
a rectangular structure measuring
interiorly 21' x 11'.6" with walls 7' in
thickness. The NE [North East] wall stands to a
