the inside of the wall must have been. In the N.E. [North East]
corner of the circle is a cup shaped hollow
about 7' across & 18" deep.

Rogart Par. [Parish] Broch No. 19.
At the upper end of Strath Fleet about
3 m. [miles] E.S.E. [East South East] of Lairg, on the S. [South] side of the strath
and about 300 ft. [feet] above the road, at the
upper side of an enclosure at one time under
cultivation are situated the remains of a broch.
It is an absolute ruin. The line of the outer
wall is visible in one or two places, the inner no:
:where. On the E. [East] side the end of a chamber
has been exposed and what may be the
entrance passage is visible through a small
aperture in front of a roofing slab. The diameter
of the structure is unobtainable. On the N. [North]
side the existence of a chamber is also noticeable.
On the W. [West] in the direction in which the ground
slopes the ruin is about 12' high but consid:
:erably less on the E. [East]. I spent a long
time moving stones in an endeavour to
find the entrance & other features but to no
purpose.

Lairg
Retracing my steps along the road to
Balindialish about 1 1/4 m [miles] from Lairg I climbed
a steep slope on which the yellow rock
roses were flowering & reached the ridge
