017 [Situation] - 1 Mile West of Glenluce and in the Western Part of the Parish- An old Castle, [p -- ] an Inscription over the door [and which] is transcribed below) it appears to have been built by Thomas Hay. in the year 1590, Thomas hay the lineal ancestor of Sir J. D. Hay Bart. [Baronet] was appointed by the Pope, Commendator of the Abbey of Glenluce in the year 1560.
This was formerly the residence of the family just refered to, it is now in ruins the walls only are now standing, the Garden and Office Houses are all defaced and the materials taken away. the whole is surrounded by a [worded]
