A Spring of soft water which rises in the tide marK about 73 linKs from high water on the southern coast of Loch Ryan and near the easteren end of the village of Clayhole This Spring is considered an antiquity as it seems to have been alluded to by Symson in 1684 (see Chambers Calidonia Vol 3 P 437) this spring is about 5 linKs in diameter and about 3 inches deep and is frequently covered with the tide. it is well Know by this name in the neighbourhood.
