A large field on the farm of Mersleugh Consisting of rough pasture ground with scattered Furze Tradition says that in this field a tower formerly stood which had been a place of defence the site of it cannot be now traced as no track of it now remains for ages past. a little South of this Stood Craigoch Castle. This name though applying to a field is tolerably well Known in the surrounding district
