[House] The remains of an Ancient fence which is said to have extended from Loch Ryan 'till it joins the 'Britton Wall' in the Ph. [Parish] of Arran Dumfries-shire. * Probably formed by the Romanized Britons after the Departure of the Roman Armies. Caledonia Vol [Volume] 3 page 237. * Mr Chalmers the Author of Caledonia in a letter to Mr. Joseph Train of Castle Douglass dated 16th April 1820, Says 'I am disposed to think that this work is several Centuries older than the arrival of the Irish Cruithne , or Picts in Galloway'.
