008 [Situation] About 1 Mile N.E. [North East] from BlacKridge Church
A very prominent feature about a Mile N.E. [North East] of Blackridge Village and is quite visible from all the Surrounding Country. It rises abruptly, is high and Rugged; the S. [South] side particularly is very steep and thickly strewn with boulders and furze which maKes it almost inaccessible, the E. [East] & W. [West] sides are also steep and Covered with boulders & Scattered furze, and from the top it slopes gently N. [North]ward - The general surface is very rough and uneven with small scattered boulders and scattered furze - It is a 12 Inch Station and from the Summit a most extensive view is obtained of the Surrounding Country, embracing Fife, the Firth of Forth etc

A very Old house on the N.[North] side of the Edinburgh & Glasgow road & one mile E. [East] of Blackridge Village. It consists of a One storey, thatched dwelling house and Offices in very bad Repair, for upwards of 50 years it was a Cowmans stage & public house and on the side next to the road are high walls, & the entrance to the Yard was a Massive gate Which Was firmly Secured every night and this is tis said the Origin of the Name. It is now occupied by a labourer. The proprieter Mr. Inglis Esqr. of Crammond.
