002 | [Situation] About 1/8 mile NE by N. [North East by North] of Abercorn Church. This is the site of the ancient Castle of Abercorn; the Once Celebrated Stronghold of the Grahams, and of the Douglas's. It stood on the summit of a point of land N.E [North East] from the Church, which is now the pleasure grounds of the Hopetoun Estate, which is called The Wilderness.
