086; 087; 088; 096 | This name applies to a good sized river famous for Salmon & Trout, it has its source in the mountains in Several head streams n [north] west of Dalnessie and flowing in an easterly direction for its whole length until it enters the Moray Firth at the village of Brora. In its course it receives a great many tributaries the principal one being the Black Water. It enters Loch Brora west of Gordansbush and leaves it again about two miles west of Gordansbush. Loch Brora looks like an expansion of the river as it is very irregular in shape and in three places not wider than the river but opens out for about 1/4 mile above and below these narrow parts. |
