089 Applied to a Well of excellent water. Situated in Glen Loth and about two miles distant from Lothbeg, this well was resorted to in former ages as a Specific for almost all diseases. There is a tradition in the district that an ash tree which stood by the side of the Well was cut down by some evil disposed person and the consequence was that all virtue departed from the Well, after its removal. It signifies the "Well of Virtues" His Grace the Duke of Sutherland propr. [proprietor].
