105 | This is a conspicuous square shaped monument, built of stone, and lime and situated on a large high hill called Beinn a' Bhragie about one mile north west of Golspie village, It is about 90 feet high, the top being formed by a statue of the first Duke of sutherland, It was erected by subscription amongst the tenantry of the Sutherland estate There is a private carriage drive leading to its base, from which a fine, and very extensive view is obtained, It was erected in 1833. |
