In the park in front of this house, are two standing stones, about seventy yards apart, the one to the S.W.[South West] is 4 feet high and 18 inch thick, the other to the N.E. [North East] is 3 feet high & 1 foot thicK. These stones marK the spot where the sKirmish tooK place, the day preceding the Battle of BannocKburn, between 500 Scottish infantry, led by Randolph, Earl of Moray, and 800 English cavalry, commanded by Sir Robert Clifford.
