List of names as written Various modes of spelling Authorities for spelling Situation Description remarks
River Carron Continued these Works, it again receives the water which was taken from it at Larbert, and from this point to the Firth of Forth it is navigable.
The navigable part of this River has undergone considerable change during the past century, formerly it was very crooked, overflowed its banks and left waste a considerable area of valuable land, but with a view of improving its navigation it was straitened & strong embankments erected on either side, so that the land which it once flooded and left almost useless, is now the most valuable in the locality.
This River, during its course, forms portions of the boundaries of the parishes of Fintry, Campsie, Kilsyth, St Ninians, Dunipace, Denny, Larbert, Falkirk & Bothkennar.
