010.07 A small circular, grassy mound or knoll, about seventy feet in diameter at its base, and about thirty feet high, situated on the top of the Hill of Airthry. It is composed of a mixture of gravel and earth, & is evidently artificial, and is, no doubt, one of those cairns or barrows frequently met with. Property of Lord Abercromby, Airthrey Castle.

010.07 A pretty extensive wood consisting of ash, oak, fir &c. on the south side of the Hill of Airthrey, extending from Drumbrae on the east, westward to Balmoral Cottage, thence northward to Dunbar Villa. The name is derived from the circumstance of there being a disused copper mine in this wood. Property of Lord Abercromby, Airthrey Castle, & Sir James Henderson, Westerton.
