The parish of Logie is in the Presbystery of Dunblane, Synod of Perth and Stirling. The name Logie is of very common occurrence in Scotland. It is said to be derived from the Gaelic Lag or Laggie, signifying low or flat ground. It is bounded on the north by the parish of Dunblane; on the south, by the river Forth, which divides it (principaly) from the parishes of Stirling and St. Ninians; on the west, by Lecropt and Dunblane; and on the east, by Alva and Alloa. There are 5 villages in the parish of Logie, viz, Menstrie, Blair Logie, Craigmill, Causewayhead and Bridge of Allan. There is no market town in the parish, the nearest is Stirling, which adjoins the southern boundary of the parish, and Alloa, about three miles from its eastern extremity. Statistical Account.
