024.07 A mansion house beautifully situated in a well wooded park with offices immediately in rear; the grounds and approaches are well laid out and kept with great care - the Mansion is plain in its details of architecture, 3 Storeys in height; it was once the residence of the Abyssinian traveller Bruce a native of the Parish, and was the scene of his death and the seemingly trivial accident which occasioned it. - and it possesses many memorials of him in the Curiosities which he brought from the wide and wondrous fields of his researches. It is now the property and residence of his descendant C. L. Cumming-Bruce Esq. MP. [Member of Parliament]
