029.05 | An artificial Reservoir constructed by the Forth & Clyde Canal Company in 1778, to contain a supply of water to feed their Canal, It covers about 70 acres of land and is fed on the East by the "Banton Burn" and on the West by an artificial lade which carries into it nearly all the water of the Garrel, The water flows from the South by means of a lade partly artificial which carries the water into their Canal at Craigmarloch Bridge. There are two islands in this reservoir both covered with wood and one bearing a name. |
