029.05 | On the day preceding the Battle of Kilsyth, the Marquis of Montrose brought his army by "the Takmadoon Road" from Stirling, and leaving the baggage on a small knoll to his left, took up his position on the rising ground above Colzium and there encamped for the night. About 70 years ago the marks were quite visible but nothing now remains to mark the spot but a few scattered rocks and furze. 029.05 | The only part of this Castle which remains is a fragment of a very strong wall 53 feet long, 5½ feet in width and about 10 feet in height, at the highest part, It is situated on the East side of the garden of "Colzium House" overlooking the House itself, and the glen, The remaining portion of it stood where the garden now is, and the ground on which the modern house stands was at that time an orchard, The date of its erection is not known, but it was occupied by the Livingstones at the same time as they held Kilsyth Castle, It (Colzium C.
