028.08 | A strong spring of delicious water on the farm of Brockieside which in Catholic times was dedicated to St Mirron, It sends from it a very strong stream of water which was purchased by the Canal Company from the Partick Baking company to help to supply their Reservoir, Near to it is a stone erected by the Partick Baking Company in 1687 and bearing a very legible date, The right of the water was bought by that Company at a very early period and taken by means of the artificial cut, now existing, to the Garrel Burn to increase the Water of the Kelvin which river drove their mills. The Statistical Account when describing this Well has fallen into an error by stating it to be south of "Wood end", when it is fully a mile North of it, |
