A parish in Stirlingshire bounded on the East by the Parish of Denny, on the South by the "River Kelvin" & "Bonny Water," which seperate it from "Cumbernauld" and "Kirkintilloch," and on the North by the "Carron Water," which seperates it from the Parish of St Ninians, The Northern part of the parish is hilly and pastoral, and the Southern is rich, flat, agricultural land, The "Kilsyth Hills," which rise to a height of 1300 feet above the Level of the Sea, intersect the parish from West to East,. The principal river in the parish is the "Carron Water" which bounds the North. The "River Kelvin" and "Bonny Water," both of which rise near the same place, near the South East end of the parish, are here in Considerable streams, The only line of Turnpike Road is that going from Glasgow to Edinburgh, The principal mansion house is "Colzium House" the seat of Sir Archibald Edmonstone, of Duntreath, Bart.
