Revd. [Reverend] Williaam Begg Mr. Alexander Black Mr. John Beeby General Roy's Military Antiquities Nimmo's History of Stirlingshire |
030.02 | A narrow ridge slightly elevated, and situated in the south east corner of Tentfield Plantation; the great Wall of Antoninus passes through. Nimmo is his history of Stirlingshire supposes it to have been an exploratory turret of the Romans, but there is nothing on the ground at present to support such a supposition. The ridge itself is evidently a natural feature, the ditch of the wall having been cut much deeper here than any other place, in consequence of of its having been conducted over the extreme summit of the ridge. |
