River Carron (continued) | [continued from page 153] below the aforementioned Works the River again receives the water which was taken from it Larbert, from this point to Firth of Forth it is navigable. The navigable part of this River has undergone considerable changes during the past century, formerly it was very crooked, overflowed its banks, and left a large area of land almost worthless, it is now, comparatively straight, having strong embankments on either side, and the land which it formerly flooded is now the most valuable in the locality. This River, during its course, forms portions of the boundaries of the parishes of, Fintry, Campsie, Kilsyth, St. Ninians, Dunipace, Denny, Larbert Falkirk & Bothkennar. It is sometimes called the Carron Water |
