015.01 | All that remains to be seen at this place is an elevation about 4 feet in height and 85 feet square it stands in a level field and appears to have been formed by earth cast from a ditch which can be traced on the North, South, and West sides. James Ramsay states that he assisted to remove some foundation stones and part of a staircase from the elevation, also to cast earth from it into the ditch. There is no mention made of this in the published records of the parish, but it is well known by the old people in the neighbourhood as the "Peel of Garchell." |
