023.16 The Town of Denny stands on the north-east border of the parish. contiguous to the Carron
on the road from Stirling to Glasgow, 7½ miles south by east of Stirling. Its site is a gentle eminence sloping on the north to
the Carron and on the south to Sclanders Burn. Most of the houses are of two stories with garrets slated roof, and sashed
windows. The quantity of buisness done in it in con-nection with Mills on the Carron, the distillery. and with the retail supply of miscellaneous wares to all classes of the circumjacent population, is very great.
It is lighted with gas and has a branch office of the Clydesdale BanK. Population in 1851, 2446
