027.08 | This work is alike in the strata of the mineral to the Glorat Lime & Coal Works, (which see - Trace 2. 28-9), having been wrought for about 50 or 60 years for coal, & now almost entirely for Limestone which is plentiful. There are several mines here but the Stone & Coal only extends for about 200 yards, on all sides, from the extent of the refuse enclosure, in which the Limekilns are standing. The name is well known. The workings are on Woodhead Estate the property of Lady Strangford. |
