028.13 | "A rivulet of Stirlingshire. It is formed by the confluence of the Pow Burn, the Finglen Burn, and the Kirkton Burn near the lodge at the entrance to Lennox Castle in this Parish; and it flows hence in a south-south-easterly direction, but with a great curve, to a junction with the Kelvin, opposite the town of Kirkintilloch. It receives the waters of no fewer than 16 Burns, and has a very large aggregate of water power, insomuch as to have been a main cause, along with the plenteousness of coal, why manufactories have taken root and flourished in Campsie."
