The east side falls to and forms part of "Gleann Meadhonach". "Uird" signifies hammer or mallet, which, it is said, is the derivation from Young men in former times going there to throw the hammer from the market or fair which tradition says was held at the Stone called "Cloch an Iaruinn" at the head of Glen Meadhonach" - which see.
