020.02 A large mansion having several spiral turrets, the principal or highest one of which (the Trigl. [Trigonometrical] Station) bears a metal figure of a man, representing the proprietor's Ancestor. It is the seat of His Grace the Duke of Montrose. The policies of the castle are extensive but do not bear a general Park name as applicable to the whole of the grounds, although several of the enclosures bear important well known names, which the proprietor's agent is desirous of having retained - such as the "Lawn Park", the "Mains Parks", "Critheach Ghlas" &c. &c.
