020.01 A small enclosure of ornl. [ornamental] pasture ground between the Meikle Moss & the Endrick. It is generally kept for grazing young horses. The name signifies the field of a young horse. It is well known and desired to be retained.

020.01 The Old Mansion house of Buchanan now partly in ruins. It was burnt about 10 years ago since which time it has not been inhabited except by servants &c. The new mansion is designated "Buchanan Castle". The parts of the old house which retain the roof has been coloured, & ruins written on Trace to the roofless parts. The whole house is now in a dilapidated state.
