[Continuation from Page 1] north-west, by Killearn and Drymen; and on the north and north-east, by Drymen and Kippen. The clachan, at one time, was the chief, if not the only point of attraction in the parish. It still deserves prominence; for here, the parish church still stands, surrounded by the grave yard, always an object of deep interest to the population. Here also is the Smithy, and the old oak tree, of fourteen feet in circumference, in the very heart of the clachan, in which were fixed the jougs of the parish. In 1832 it was necessary to rebuild the parish Church. In 1833 it was opened for public worship, it is seated for 700. None of the seats are let. The expense of the building and finishing this fabric, including plans and specifications, was, in all, £930. The Earl of Kinnoul is patron of the living, as proprietor of an old Abbey in Perthshire. The minister of the parish preaches once every 6 weeks in summer at the school house of Lernock, about 5 miles to the east of the present parish Church. In Winter he does this once a quarter. The Manse was built about 40 years ago at a cost of something under £300; originally a poorly built and ill finished house. The heritors have in consequence been frequently called upon to repair it at considerable expense. There are 17 acres of glebe, and the living is one of the small ones, a considerable portion of the stipend being made up from the Exchequer. There are no detached portions of this parish, nor are there any detached portions of any other parish Situated with it. The parish contains 7876 Statute Acres.
