The walls are from 7 to 10 links thicK, solid at the bottom or near the foundation, and average from 12 to 20 feet in height above the ground. The north-west side is the most perfect part remaining. The upper parts of the other sides are shattered, particularly the south-west corner where there appears to be the remains of a turret or tower. The Castle is upon the Estate of Dougalston, the property of J. Gordon Glassford Esq. No remains of a ditch exist on the east or north sides. The west & south west is a steep rock. |
