The present spelling, Alva, has been in use since the beginning of the last century. The parish of Alva forms a detached part of the County of Stirling for judicial purposes: but since the passing of the Reform Bill it has been annexed to the County of Clackmannan for returning a Knight of the Shire to Serve in Parliament. The Parish of Alva is surrounnded, on all sides, by the County of Clackmannan, except on the north, where it is bounded by the Parishes of Blackford and Dunblane in the County of Perth; on the West by the parish of Logie; on the south by the Parish of Alloa and a detached part of the parish of Clackmannan; and on the east by the parish of Tillicoultry. The minister's stipend consists of £34 1s 9d including the allowance for Communion elements [Continued on Page 2]
