018.07 ; 018.11 ; 018.16 A noble estuary which receives the waters of the River Forth. It is navigable as far as Alloa for vessels of 400 tons burthen and from which place it may be said to begin, as it there begins to partake of the expansion and other properties of an arm of the sea. It divides the counties of Stirling, Linlithgow and Edinburgh from those of Perth, Clackmannan and Fife. Its waters are lost in the German Ocean near the Bass Rock.
