066.03 A Cave situated near the north end of Fitful Head and midways between Yuxness and Scantips. The situation and surroundings opf this cave leave little doubt that it is the place described by Sir Walter Scott in his romance of "Pirate" as the residence of "Norna of "Fitful Head." Sir Walter however had evidently made a mistake in stating that a Picts House at one time existed here as there can be no doubt that the hollow flat above the cave is one of natural formation. The cave is easy of access but having filled up there is little left to reward the Tourist for his [labour?]
