051.06 A green mound: Situated at the south end of "Burn" in the district of "Wester Skeld": Upon the property of Andrew Umphray Esqr. of Reawick. An attempt was made in 1869, by James Hunt Esq Ph. D. [Doctor of Philosophy] etc. etc. of the Anthropological society of London, to excavate this object, but in consequence of the difficulty experienced, from the size of the object and the material of which it is composed - huge boulders intermixed with small broken burnt looking stones - the project was abandoned.
