042.06 A. circular mound consisting of stone and rubbish, also a portion of the ancient building situated at the northwest side of the mound; said to be the remains of a Pictish stronghold. It is situated close to the seashore on the east side of the "Ness of Nunsbrough," about 7 chains north east by east of the northmost house of "Nunsbrough," "A buugh, built on a low neck of land, and formerly surrounded by the sea, is to be seen below the present dwellinghouses of "Nunsbrough," Extract from New Statistical Account of Scotland.
