014 | On Dryhope Haugh there stood a large cairn called Herton's Hill, in the midst of which, when the stones were removed to enclose the surrounding fields, some urns were found, besides a coffin containing ashes; the turnpike road between Selkirk and Moffat passes over the place where the cairn stood, and there is still a slight elevation at this place. |
