009.07 This Stream extending for a considerable distance along the Tweed in front of Tweedbank Plantation is a favorite Cast for rodfishing and suitable in former times, that is, before the introduction of the New Tweed fishing Act. for fishing with the large net, which deposited in a boat, was thrown into the river, the boat in its Course describing as large a Circle as the net admitted of. This manner of fishing is termed in fishermens language. "A Shot."

009.07 This term is usually applied to an opening in a Caul admitting the fish to pass up the river. and refers here to a narrow Course in the Centre of the Tweed, formed by two breakwaters or Stone piers which project from both sides of the river, opposite the shiel, near the Eastern Extremity of Tweedbank plantation.
