GALA LAW | Gala Law | Robert Darling Esqre Broomlands William Smith Esqre Writer James Elliot Gallalaw. Revd [Reverend] James Jarvie Kelso. |
009.03 | This hill rises as abruptly from the North as it descends towards the South, and extends in an oblong and regular from through several fields from N E [North East] to S W. [South West] The higher part of the hill is covered with a circular plantation, where it is supposed, in former times the Gallows were erected and Criminals executed, from which the name is evidently derived. It remains a question of interest whether this place of judgement had any relation with the town of Kelso, or the now extinct Barony of Brox in which it was situated. |
MUSERIG | Muserig | Robert Darling Esqre Broomlands. James Elliot Gallalaw. Mr Turnbull Steward. |
009.03 | This name is applied to a row of neat and comfortable cottages with Garden attached, recently erected on the demesne of Floors a short distance N.W. [North West] from the farm buildings and inhabited by farm labourers. |
