CRAILING Crailing Parish Continued rendered very conspicuous by a Monument Pillar erected on its summit by the late Marquis of Lothian, in commemoration of the Victory obtained at Wterloo - Crailing is bounded on the North & North West, by Roxburgh; on the West, by Ancrum; on the South by Jedburgh; and on the East, by Eckford - In general appearance Crailing presents that of a wide valley, with sloping banks on either side, the Teviot flowing eastward through the Centre, and dividing the parish into two nearly equal portions - The parish contains nothing memorable in the way of Antiquities, excepting the vestiges of two once strongly fortified encampments on the top of Pineil-heugh- The church is a very plain building in the exterior, but comfortable enough within. It was built about 1755, and is situated on the Crailing side of the Parish, on a small eminence about a quarter of a mile North from the Village. Forty new sittings
