Rowchester is two miles, and Blackchester, three a half miles Southwards of Eildonhills - The part of Rowchester, which stands on a gentle eminence is in the form of a Parallelogram, having the angles rounded: it was fortified by a strong rampart, and large fosse, including an area of two and a half acres - Rowchester is the name of a Roman Fort near Severus's wall - Raechester is also the of the Roman Station in Reedsdale; and "Rochester" in Kent, derives its name from a Roman Fort" - Kinghorns Ms. [Manuscript] Survey
