A Strong Peel or Tower Stood here, the remains of which can only be traced (indistinctly) by the foundation Stones.
It is supposed to have been a place of considerable Strength _ In 1607 it. belonged to the Kers of Ancrum.
It was afterwards acquired by the family of Ogilvie of Chesters, and is now the property of T. Scott of Peel.
