Situated on the west coast of Ross-shire containing the post office Station of Gairloch and the post office village of Poolewe it is bounded on the north by the river Gruinord, which separates it from the parish of Lochbroom, on the east by the Summit line of mountains which divides the waters flowing to the eastern from those flowing to the west. On the south by Loch Torridon which separates it from Applecross. parish and on the west side by the Minch. Its extreme length is about 40 Miles. its extreme breadth about 30 Miles It resembles generally the other parts of the Highlands abounding with hills which affords a scanty pasture for sheep and interspersed with Glens and vales which are tolerable fertile in favourable seasons It contains , [blank] about Statute Acres. |
