066 | The following it taken from the Statistical Account: "A fine building, was some years ago destroyed by fire. The walls are still standing, but no attention has been made to repair it, and the family resides in one of the wings. It is surrounded by very beautiful and extensive pleasure grounds." The castle proper was built about 200 years ago and destroyed by fire in 1800 - 72 years ago. The walls are being taken down & the stones of which they are composed are being used in the erection of a new Castle being built between the wings of the old one. |
