(Descriptive Remarks)
This name applies to an artificial Mound of a Rectangular form and flat on top with a trench surrounding it about 34 feet wide at the top by 5 or 6 at the bottom and about 10 or 11 deep the Interior of the Mound or fort is raised about 8 or 10 feet abiove the General surface and presents no appearance of ever having abreast work around it. By whoom [second "o" crossed out] it was erected or for what purpose, or why it is called "David's Fort" I could not find out as both History and Tradition of this portion of the County appear to be both limited and vague.
