Patrons the Crown and MacKenzie of Newhall, it is bounded on the North by Dornoch Firth on the East by Moray Firth on the South by by the Parish of Fearn and on the West by the Parishes of Fearn and Tain. The Parish of Tarbat is situated in the Cromarty shire detached, in the county of Ross detached in Cromarty shire (Detached) and in Ross shire, The portion in Ross-shire contains 4590 Statute Acres, the portion in Ross-shire detached 200 Statue Acres & the portion in Cromarty shire detached 2870 Statute Acres. There are no detached portions of the Parish of Tarbat in these or any other Counties. Neither are there detached portions of any other Parish within its limits The parish Church is the N.E. [North East] part of the Parish, close to the Village of Portmohomack. The prevailing soil is light and sandy. the surface of the Parish is a plain, diversified by low rising grounds.
