077 | This name applies to a district comprising several small farms, situated about half a mile S.W. [South West] of the district of Springfield. The houses & buildings are all of stone thatched, and in fair repair. On the south east side of one of the farm houses stood the old house of Brae. the materials of which were used in the erection of buildings in the vicinity. Over the door of the farmhouse, above mentioned, is a stone built in, with 16 D.F. IF. 82, cut in it, and in the western gable, is another stone, of triangular shape, with the inscription "Fear God" surmounted by a fleur-de-lis. No vestige of the house of Brae, is to be seen in its original position, at present. Mr MacKenzie, of Newhall, is proprietor |
